‘Durga Puja’ – the biggest festival of Bengal was celebrated by the members of Rotaract Club of Calcutta Metro South (Globsyn Business School) by organizing the Puja at an old-age home in South Garia, Subhashgram to celebrate the five days with their grandmas and grandpas who are staying far from their home and near & dear ones.
The Puja was inaugurated on ‘Maha Sasthi’ by Prof. R.C. Bhattacharya (Vice Chairman, Globsyn Business School) along with other faculty members and officials of the school. The formal puja started on ‘Maha Saptami’ with traditional rituals. In the evening Mr. Bikram Dasgupta (Chairman & CEO – Globsyn Group) and Mrs. Ranjana Dasgupta (Director, Globsyn Group) visited the puja and also met some of the inmates there.
On ‘Maha Ashtami’ – the most auspicious day among the four days of the festivals all the inmates gathered for ‘Anjali’. Some of the inmates who were not able to come down for the Anjali were brought on stretchers by the Globsyn students. The traditional ‘Sandhi Puja’ was offered on the same day.
In the morning of ‘Maha Nabami’ the puja was performed and in the evening cultural function with song, dance, and magic show was also organized. The evening was enjoyed by the inmates whole heartedly as it was the last day of the puja.
As always ‘Bijoya Dashami’ was the most emotional day, as after the ‘Bisorjon’ the students had to leave their grandmas & grandpas. All the inmates were in tears while saying goodbye to their grandchildren but they were also happy that in the next year they will be meeting them again.
