Globsyn Business School (GBS) has time and again organized seminars on different important topics for its students to keep them up to date with the latest happenings in the business world. After the successful discussion on ‘Budget 2009’ where Mr. Pallav Gupta (GM – Taxation, ITC) raised many issues on the proposed tax structure, the ‘Knowledge Cell’ of the school thought it would be great if an expert comes and discusses these issues at length with the students to give them a better understanding about the nitty-gritty of it. In this regard they invited Prof. Amitabha Chatterjee (HOD - Dept. of Economics) of the Presidency College was invited for an interactive session with the GBS students.

Prof. Chatterjee an erudite scholar started the session by explaining the rationale behind the need to have an income tax along with the other kind taxes like excise duty, service tax, sales tax etc. in the first place and what are the effects of so many taxes on a common man from an economic point of view. Then he went on to explain the different kinds of taxes present in India and their structure in a way which is easily understood by the students coming from different background.

At the end of the session there was a highly interactive Q&A session where the students cleared their doubts. Prof. Bhattacharya was extremely happy after interacting with the GBS students and hoped to come back again to address them.

British Deputy High Commissioner visits Globsyn

As a part of the continuous efforts of Globsyn Business School to provide its students a global outlook in this time growing global partnership among the nations worldwide, the school invited Mr. Sanjay Wadvani – British Deputy High Commissioner, Eastern India at its campus to interact with the students. The informative interaction saw Mr. Wadvani sharing his views about the current economic situation around the world, what are its effects on UK, and what are the steps taken by the UK government to overcome the problem. Born and brought up in Kolkata Mr. Wadvani also shared some of his personal experiences while working as diplomat in different countries.

Mr. Wadvani also met Mr. Bikram Dasgupta – Chairman & CEO, Globsyn Group, Mr. Pratip Kar – Chair Globsyn Center for Corporate Governance & Ethics, Prof. R. C. Bhattacharya – Vice Chairman & Director, Globsyn Business School and other faculty members during his visit.

GBS organizes Blood Donation Camp 2009

Rotaract Club of Calcutta Metro South the CSR wing of the Globsyn Group organized the annual Blood Donation Camp last week at the Globsyn Business School campus. The camp organized in association with Lions Club saw more than hundred volunteers comprising the students of Globsyn Business School and the employees of Globsyn Technologies Ltd. donating blood to save life. The program was inaugurated by Mr. Romit Dasgupta – Director, Globsyn Group. The Rotaract club also arranged for small refreshments for the donors.

Globsyn Management Journal (GMJ) – the bi-annual publication of Globsyn Business School aimed for better understanding of organizations and their functioning by presenting conceptually sound and methodologically rigorous articles has been enlisted in ‘EBSCO’ – the premium online information resources for tens of thousands of institutions worldwide. Due to this Globsyn Business School will be able to access latest articles published in different other journals published by other premiere business schools across the world and will be able to incorporate them in the class room teaching for making the students ‘industry ready’.
