Globsyn Business School (GBS) celebrated its annual management and cultural event ‘Serendipity’, on 14th and 15th of Feb at the EZCC Auditorium, Salt Lake City. The program was inaugurated by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, founder of the Art of Living movement.
Guruji’s session was followed by the convocation, where Dr J. J. Irani, Director Tata Sons, was the Chief Guest. A total of 135 students received their Post Graduate Diplomas for the year 2006-2008.
The evening saw the students of GBS performing a “Musical Extravaganza” Which was then followed by dinner hosted by the students for their parents.
15th of Feb started with The Corporate Summit, where eminent Industrial personalities like Ms Madhumita Basu: Sr GM Eveready Industries, Dr M. K. Maheshwari: VP-Personnel, Albert David Ltd, Mr S. K. Chanda: Chief GM, Mother Dairy, Ms Sushmita Chanda: Head KPO Division, ICRA India and Mr Sumit Binani: Sr VP, SREI Finance were present. The topic of the discussion was “The changing face of the 2009 executive; his priorities, his roles, his focus”.
‘Battle Royale’, which is an inter b-school management game was the next event. This year, institutes like IIM Cal, IISWBM, Army Institute of Management etc. participated in the event. The student in the game needed to enact live cases from the field of Finance, HR and Marketing. The next event for the day was the ‘Mock Parliament’ – a debate where the participants from IIM Cal, IISWBM, Army Institute of Management, ISB & M, ISB etc. debated on topics like ‘Stimulus Package or Bailout’, ‘India having a minority community Prime Minister’ etc. Both the events were won by IIM Cal. ‘Mock Parliament’ was followed by a lively ‘Antakshari’, where schools like the Army Institute of Management, NSHM, IISWBM, ISB & M and P C Chandra participated. The event was won by PC Chandra.
Finally, the day ended with the ‘Rock Nite’, where the in house ‘Globsyn Band’ stated the evening with their scintillating performance. After the band Vicky (Arindam), one of the singers from Star Voice of India took the stage to entertain the students.
Overall Serendipity’09 was a grand success. The students not only discovered their hidden talents but also learnt a lot about the industry from the eminent speakers. The students of GBS raised more than Rs. 5L and the institute has decided to donate its entire savings from it towards a social cause through its CSR arm.
